What is Hair Transplant?
A hair transplant is a type of surgery that is done to add more hair to an area where there is thin hair or no hair.
It is performed by taking hair from a thicker area of the scalp and then grafting it to the desired area which is bald or thin. Hair is usually taken from the back of the head, but sometimes it can be taken from other parts of the body too.

How the transplant is performed?
In simpler words, hair transplant means taking hair from a part where you have abundant hair growth and then transferring it to the area of the head of thinning and balding.
Before the procedure, the area is sterilized and local anesthesia is applied to the area from where the hair is taken. After these two types of methods can be performed.
- Follicular unit transplantation in which piece of scalp is removed from the backside of your head and then the surgeon makes small holes in your scalp where hair will e transferred. After this hair is inserted from the removed piece of scalp. This is also called as grafting.
- Follicular unit extraction in which hair is shaved off from the back of your head and individual follicles are extracted out and then small holes are made into your scalp in which follicles are inserted.
